YUP! We're about to reach the Kiriban of 3k pageviews! If you get it, don't forget to note me with a link to the screen of it. I'll probably offer you a waist up of your choice...
And so, Spring break came to a close, and I'm back at school. It's time for the last effort, as it is the final quarter of the school year. Summer's coming up, and so is junior year. Oh great... SATs are coming up. I'm feeling older every day, and I'm starting to ponder more about death.
Spring break was great. I got some time to relax, and also toured around a couple colleges. It was an awesome stress reliever, and I feel energized now.
Anyways, what's with this journal title?
Well... Yesterday, I ended up remembering about Makoto Shinkai's new movie 5 centimeters per second, and I've just finished watching it. By the way, Shinkai is also known for his movie The Land Promised in Our Early Days, and also Memories of a Distant Star. He's an amazing animator and director, and for the latter movie I mentioned, he did all of the animation and sound effects alone, as well as the mixing. For the Land Promised in Our early days, I think he did a substantial part of the animation, but this time, the production company supplied him a team. Personally, I think he's like the next Miyazaki, except I think he surpasses Miyazaki due to the fact that he can deal with low budget projects, unlike Ghibli, which usually has high budget projects.
5 centimeters is essentially a collection of 3 anime episode sized shorts about the love of two childhood friends and how they seem to separate farther away from each other as they grow up. Well... It's pretty much an OVA formatted as a movie really. The ending is very bittersweet, as all of Shinkai's movies. It really leaves an imprint on you, and I highly recommend this movie to others, and also any of Shinkai's shorts(which you can find on Youtube haha), and movies.
Nothing interesting being planned out in the art scene, so I'm just going to try my best in school now >_< . I might be doing some remakes... who knows?
